The New Catalog Is Here!
The Acorn Public Library District, along with the other 80 member libraries in the SWAN consortium, migrated to a new software system and catalog on April 14. As you can imagine, changing over to a new system comes along with its own challenges, frustrations, and technological hiccups, especially near the beginning of making such a shift or shortly thereafter. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work toward resolving these issues and improving your experience. As you may have noticed, some services on the catalog are experiencing intermittent issues as SWAN continues to optimize the new system. Be assured that librarian and IT professionals are working diligently to correct any issues that arise. If you experience any problems, need assistance accessing your account, or want help with navigating through the new catalog, please do not hesitate to contact us at 708-687-3700. New Library Catalog Coming April 14
Patrons who enjoy using the library catalog to find materials will soon have a lot more to like when the Acorn Public Library District, in connection with other libraries in the SWAN library consortium, switches over to a new software system in April 2015. The catalog will be easier to search and will offer many new features to enhance your library experience. The new catalog is scheduled to go live April 14, 2015. When the Library switches over to the new system, all existing PINs will be reset to the last four digits of the primary phone number on your account. If your account does not have a phone number, or you wish to change your PIN, you may reset your PIN once the new catalog is live. You must have a valid email address on your account to reset your PIN online. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to see our library staff to make sure that your phone number and email address are correct and current by April 9, 2015.
Patrons Using MY WISH LISTS
MY WISH LISTS will not migrate with your record to the new catalog system in April. To save your information for re-entry in the new system, please follow these instructions before April 14.
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
As some of you may be aware, the Oak Forest City Council recently nominated the Acorn's Board of Trustees to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The Board, partially due to the recent run of chilly weather, decided against actually dumping icy water over their heads. However, in lieu of this, the trustees will be making a personal donation to the ALS foundation.
