7:00 Meet the Artists: Toni Ruppert & Sylvia Westbrook
Local Artist Toni Ruppert, who's artwork is being displayed at the library throughout February, and Sylvia Westbrook host a celebration of two African-American women artists: Boston-born Lois Mailou Jones and Chicago based Marva Lee Pitchford-Jolly. 7:00 Those Were the Days Radio Players
The Golden Age of radio is back at Acorn Library. The radio players will perform 2 comedies: "Let Me Tell You About My Operation" and Fibber McGee and Molly in "McGee Writes a Movie". Registration is limited to 50.

1:00 Meet the Artist: Toni Ruppert
Local Artist Toni Ruppert discusses her artwork, which will be on display throughout March, and Women's History Month. Register at the Circulation Desk.



Tuesday March 6th
7:00 Moraine Valley Information Session
Discover the benefits of being an adult learner at Moraine Valley Community College. Receive information about the enrollment process, obtaining financial aid, course options and more. Session will be held from 7-8pm in the Meeting Room.

7:00 Pruning Techniques and Tools for Trees and Shrubs
Gardeners: Be on the cutting edge of practicing prudent pruning. Learn how to prune like an arborist. You will have an opportunity to try the newest and best professional pruning tools that are now available to the homeowner. Handouts illustrating pruning techniques will be provided.

7:00 Rex Newell's Antique Appraisal
Antique Appraiser Rex Newell stops by to share his insight in the world of antiques. Rex will also provide one free appraisal to the first 40 Acorn patrons to register. Register at the Circulation Desk.

7:00 Oak Forest Numismatic Society Coin Collecting Presentat
Did you know that April 15-21 is National Coin Week? The Oak Forest Numismatic Society will visit the library to give a presentation and answer questions from the audience. Members will provide information for beginner and novice coin collectors. Register by phone or at the front desk.



Thursday April 19th
7:00 Resume Protocol and Cover Letters Workshop
Need help creating you resume? The "Sundance Group" will visit the library to help interested patrons craft the perfect resume. Formatting, Content, Grammar, Terminology, Objectives, Tone, Length, and other issues will all be covered in this 90 minute session. The seminar ends with a Q&A session. Registration is limited to the first 25 Acorn patrons. Register at the front desk or by phone.

7:00 Local Author: Lydia Ponczak
Lydia Ponczak, host of the local TV show 'Views of the News', visits the library to sign and sell copies of her first published book, Who's After Samantha? The novel, a mystery, will be released in May. Register at the Circulation Desk.

7:00 Freedom, Slavery, and the Roots of American Music
Ray Kamalay, professional musician and lecturer presents, "Freedom, Slavery, and the Roots and American Music". Ray will discuss the history of slavery, how it changed in the United States, and how American music changed with it. Topics such as the Vatican's role in the slave trade, racial slavery, and the Haitian Revolution will be covered as Ray intermittently plays various period music.
